MOOD BOARD

After completing our storyboard, lyrics sheets and animatic, we began thinking about our treatment. We all knew what kind of themes and props we endeavoured to include in the video, however felt we would get more of a clearer picture by actually putting them down on paper. Therefore Phoebe researched and gathered images of the kind of props we were aiming to incorporate into our work and we created a moodboard. I feel like this was a big help as it meant we were able to determine what works well with that and if we all favoured the same ideas.
PROPS
Following the mood board we had a much clearer picture of what props we planned to include. We then produced a mind map stating what props we needed to gather to pin point exactly what we needed. The mood board gave us a great head start with this planning.
We categorised the mind map according to our two locations; stage performance and tea party, and food and characters. We considered these to be the most sensible categories to devise our props into; it gave us a clearer structure and good form of organisation.

QUESTIONNAIRE COMPLETED BY ROSIE, ANALYSIS COMPLETED BY MYSELF
When it came to planning who we would use for characters in our music video, we considered it to be a useful idea to gather audience research. Rosie devised a questionnaire of which asked what gender ratio they would like to see within the video. 100% of the responses came back as 3:3 (male to female) - we were pleased with this result as we had already endeavoured to use 3 males and 3 females whilst devising our initial ideas. The second question asked how old the audience would expect the characters to be; we received a variety of answers however the average age requested is 18-19 years old. This information will be taken into account for casting. The next question was based upon costume types, and we allowed the participants to select more than one answer due to it being multiple choice. The most popular answer was "colourful" followed by "extravagant" and then "casual". Thankfully nobody selected dull. Due to the mix in responses we plan to differ costumes according to gender; this way we will obtain a wider audience appeal. The final question asked if the audience would prefer to see the characters groups uniformed or unique. The results show that unique was the most popular choice - again, this will be taken into account, however we still want to show a sense of uniform amongst the character groups. The questionnaire was a big help!

LOCATION
COMPLETED BY MYSELF
We plan to use two locations for our music video, one for the performance scenes and another for the conceptual scenes. By divising the video into two locations according to performance and conceptual, we will be able to show clear differentiations and ensure the sufficient moods and atmospheres are created and suited to each location, whilst also showing examples of binary opposites according to Levi Strauss.
For the conceptual part to the music video in which a tea party takes place, we endeavour to use an outside garden location, taking inspiration from the Alice in Wonderland theme. Luckily enough, we considered Rosie's garden to be the ideal location, as it's teal blue picket fences, green grass and nature surroundings comply with everything we had in mind. We hope for a sunny day, to emphasise the light-hearted spirit that this location will bring to our music video. The benefit of using Rosie's garden also meant that it was easy to ensure we had permission to shoot here, and we didn't need to worry about availability.
In terms of the location for the performance elements of the music video, our original idea was to shoot the band in front of a plain white wall and use lighting to enhance the shots, aiming for a stage-like appearance to comply with the performance style. Unfortunately after researching into available locations, we weren't able to find one that had a plain white background that we were satisfied with, therefore to compromise our second choice was to take advantage of the drama hall at the High School on a separate site to the sixth form. We visited the site and decided that the use of a black curtain positioned behind the band would work well, and we would still be able to enhance the location through use of lighting etc. As an outcome, we were really happy with how it looked, and although it may not have been our first choice, we still created a setting that suited the performance elements well.
