Storyboard & Animatic

Phase 1: Lyrics Sheets

COMPLETED BY ALL GROUP MEMBERS

Before composing a storyboard, we considered it to be a good idea to print off the lyrics to Pink Lemonade and compose some rough ideas next to each line. This would therefore give us a template for the storyboard. I annotated and colour coded the lyric sheet according to settings, colours, props etc. This gave us a clearer idea of what we wanted and when we wanted it.

Phase 2: Storyboard

COMPLETED BY ALL GROUP MEMBERS

Next we created our storyboard. We produced some A3 spreads of shots and after amendments we were left with 50 different final camera shots. Each one is colour coded according to locations and shows the shot type, length, and general concept/idea of the shot. The main storyboard included the lyrics to show an order to the shots according to the song, however we felt it wouldn't be the best idea to continue this through for the whole length of the song as there are several instrumental fillers in which we endeavour to experiment with speed manipulation and stop motion; which explains the reason for our amendments sheet. This shows a variety of the styles/types of shots we aim to create.

Phase 3: Animatic

COMPLETED BY ROSIE & PHOEBE

After myself and Rosie had completed storyboard amendments, Phoebe began to create an animatic video so we could match up the shots with the lyrics of the song. This was created using iMovie and Rosie helped with the editing. We thought this was a really effective idea as it allowed us to see our shots in real life, giving us the opportunity to identify any further amendments with timings and shots etc that needed to be made. The animatic video is shown below.

Phase 4: Focus Group

COMPLETED BY ALL GROUP MEMBERS

We targeted a focus group to obtain feedback on our animatic video. One of the participants was a media student which really benefited us as he was able to feedback with a more specific, clear understanding of what the animatic was for, and what kind of music video we were hoping to create. Overall the feedback was really positive and we were pleased we'd asked for second opinions on the animatic. The responses are shown below.
