Rosie and I devised a questionnaire to give out to 20 males and females, a variety of ages, in order to gather audience research and obtain information on their opinions of our ideas. We inclduded the following questions:

-What gender do you identify with?

-How old are you?

-Where could you picture the location of our music video? (multiple choice)

-Which theme do you think fits the indie-pop genre?

-What types of props would suit this genre and music video? (multiple choice)

-What theme/event would you expect to appear within this music video? (multiple choice)

-Do you agree with our choice of a conceptual/perfomance hybrid music video?

After gathering our audience research, I analysed the results and presented the information in pie charts. A pie chart was not created for the final quetion of whether or not the audience agreed with our choice of a conceptual/perfomance music video, as everybody ticked yes. The results are shown below.

Out of the 20 people we asked, 8 were male and 12 were female. We endeavoured to receive information from both genders as we had initially decided that we wanted to create a music video that would appeal to both males and females.

We decided to hand out our questionnaires to a people with a variety of ages. The youngest person to complete our questionnaire was 16 and the eldest was 52, however the majority of the responses fit in the 16-18 years old age bracket. During the process, it came to our knowledge that those aged 25+ were less familiar with the indie-pop genre than those of a younger age. This is therefore something to take into account when finalising our decision on our target audience.

For the question on most suitable location, we gave three options that we had already decided would be suitable, however we wanted to find out what the audience thought. Out of a 'vintage garden party', a plain white room, and a concert venue, the majority of our responders picked a vintage garden party. The information has been taken into account, however our group is still keen on using a plain white room as our location. We may chose to break conventions for this particular question, which is often seen within the indie pop genre.

Our next question determined which theme the audience would like to see within the music video. We gave examples such as vintage or gothic, and the majority picked vintage, which was followed by retro. We are pleased with the results, as a vintage theme is what we initially had in mind - we are also considering incorporating a retro theme into it, in order to obtain a wider audience appeal.

We decided to make this question a multiple choice, with the options of 'minimalistic', 'extravagant', 'random' or 'colourful'. We allowed the audience to select more than one answer, and after analysing the results the most popular choices were 'colourful' and 'random'. We are happy with the audience response, as a variety of brightly coloured random props are exactly what we were going for. We feel as though this will fit the indie-pop genre well.

Our final question asked what type of theme/event the audience would expect to appear in the music video. The responses given were happiness, romance, and conflict. I created an 'other' box on the pie chart as we had one response that stated "excitement" and one that stated "dancing". Happiness was the theme that was picked by the majority of the responders, which is a good result as we want to create a music video that is fun, exciting, and creative, therefore portraying happiness.
