OLIVIA EVITT
Final Cut
COMPLETED BY ROSIE AND I
Below is our final cut, edited by Rosie and I. Taking into account the feedback on our rough cut from the focus group, we decided to stick with the stop motion that was shown in the video oppose to changing it to the examples shown in our stop motion trials, as it was favoured by the target audience which is of great importance according to the Reception Theory. However to enhance the professionalism and smoothness of the editing, we introduced the stop motion scene by bringing in vertical black strips at either side of the last shot before the stop motion images in order to enhance the 'polaroid' idea and create a smooth transition. We researched into doing this with the help of the knowledge of a University Media Student alongside watching YouTube tutorials to allow us to develop our knowledge on the tools available in the programme we used for editing our video which was Sony Vegas Pro. We are very happy with the result of including the black strips, as by including something so simple we have created a transition that is smooth and effective. We were surprised that the target audience liked our stop motion images, we had hoped to use them as we thought they were really effective and added a hint of quirkiness and originality which is a look we endeavoured to create; this is particularly conventional for the Indie genre. Another vital part of the editing of our final cut was to edit the lighting and enhance the colours in order to show continuity of our theme of brightness and vibrancy. By increasing the saturation and contrast within the shots we were able to take advantage of the sunny weather we were blessed with on the day of our shoot and as a result the shots look much cleaner, more effective, and more suited to our indie-pop genre. We are really happy with the results and particularly proud of how the development of mine and Rosie's editing skills have benefited us throughout this project.
Rough Cut VS Final Cut
After the editing of our final cut, Rosie proposed the idea to me of placing the rough cut and final cut side by side in order to show the effects of our editing. Therefore using the editing software iMovie for Mac I created a comparison video to show the differentiations. I think this was a really effective and useful idea, as it enables us to see the development of the editing of our video and the improvements made.
Final Cut Feedback

Rosie devised a questionnaire based upon our final cut to give out to a group of 10 media and non-media students. The questions asked the focus group to watch the rough and the final cut and identify changes made in order to guarantee that improvements were sufficient enough to guarantee the satisfaction of our target audience, as this is of great importance. Overall the feedback was positive. All participants agreed that the colour enhancing complimented the video and the themes presented and that the adjustments made to the stop motion softened the transition and enhanced the professionalism.
