Rough Cut
Phase 1: Rough Cut
This is our final rough cut. We are really happy with how it has turned out although wanted to ensure we had produced something fit for our target audience, therefore we showed it to a group of volunteers as explained below. As seen on the Stop Motion Trials page, we still weren't certain whether or not to keep or change the stop motion seen at 2:52 therefore the idea of the rough cut is to see what amendments need to be made for the final piece. We also plan to edit the lighting in all of the shots in order to enhance the colours and exaggerate the vintage theme throughout. However these minor editing elements will all be done in the editing of the final cut.
Phase 2: Focus Group
We targeted a focus group of 7 people to watch our rough cut. Rosie, Phoebe and I filmed them watching the music video in order to capture their reactions. I then edited the footage together alongside the music video to mirror their reactions according to the video. Rosie and I then devised a number of questions to ask, in order to obtain feedback and any suggestions for improvements, in which Phoebe asked during the focus group:
- What are your initial thoughts on the video?
- Do you think the music video successfully fits the indie-pop genre?
- Do you have any suggestions for improvements?
- Do you think the stop motion in our video works well enough to keep?
The feedback obtained was really positive and they reacted in exactly the way we endeavoured. The video for the focus group can be seen on the right. We consider their feedback to be very important therefore it will be taken into account during the editing of our final cut.
