OLIVIA EVITT
Taylor Swift - Red

The album title is the biggest and most distinct element of the album cover, whilst also being the first thing focused on according to the audience's line of vision. This creates the portrayal that the music is of more importance than the artist and the advert is purely for promotion purposes.
The use of a sepia image for the background creates connotations for the style of the album whilst also complimenting the colours of the font. Having the album title in red is ironic and synergises with what is being promoted; the contrast between white and red (binary opposites) means that the focus is on the album title before the artist name, showing the music is of great importance.
The font used is a thick capital sans serif font, simplistic yet bold and aesthetically pleasing whilst obtaining the power to engage the audience. The power of the font could perhaps withhold connotations of the album as the colour red is associated with power, danger, etc; therefore implying that this is the representation that the artist wishes to create, complying with Dyer's star theory.
Artist makes no direct eye contact with audience, as a result she is not the first thing seen in the audiences line of vision. The mystery within her pose withholds deeper connotations therefore engaging the audience to look further into the magazine advert and its purpose.
Additional information placed in the bottom left corner making it the last thing seen in the audience's line of vision. Red font is used to promote the singles featured on the album and the 'Deluxe Edition'. This shows these elements are of great importance as they are in the same colour as the album title font.
